Who We Are

The Creative Economy Council of the Philippines is a duly registered non-stock, non-profit organization founded in June 2017 by a group of Creative Industry Leaders with a common goal of accelerating the collective growth of Philippine Creativity.

Our Vision is to be the country’s leading Creative Industries Accelerator, with focus on driving international trade opportunities for Philippine Creativity. This will be achieved through a combination of market intelligence, strategic planning, business model building, business matching and international market development.

CECP’s Mission is to achieve the following:

To establish a multi-sectoral consultative organization that will lay the foundation for a Philippine Creative Economy development roadmap towards becoming one of the top Creative Economies in Asia-Pacific;
To conduct or commission research & analysis on the Philippine creative economy, creative industries and related cultural & artistic industries for purposes mapping, measuring and prioritizing private sector strategy & informing public policy;
To influence public policy that will help nurture and grow the national creative economy as well as specific creative industries;
To conduct events, forums, workshops & conventions that help Filipino creative & cultural industries & stakeholders develop a growth strategy for their respective sectors;
To represent & promote Philippine Creative industries in international creative economy related events;
To grow the industry through the creation, and management of global opportunities for members, and make the Philippines a global player in providing creative products, services & intellectual properties.

Paolo Mercado

Founder & President

is a long time international advertising and marketing veteran. He spent the last 12 years of his career with Nestle as Chief Marketing Officer in the Philippines as well as for Nestle Greater China Region. Prior to these assignments, Paolo was the global communications and consumer insights manager for the Dairy Strategic Business Unit at the Nestle headquarters in Switzerland. Before joining Nestle, Paolo spent 12 years in advertising. His last position was Deputy Worldwide Account Director for the Publicis Groupe in Paris. He also served as COO and Managing Director for Publicis Manila which he co-founded in 2003. Paolo is the first Filipino graduate of the Berlin School of Creative Leadership MBA program.

Angel Guerrero

CECP Vice-President - Board Member

is the Founder, President, and Editor-in-Chief of adobo magazine - The Word on Creativity. adobo magazine, is a leading creative industries trade publication that publishes stories on advertising, marketing, brands, media, PR, digital, design, entertainment, and pop culture in the Philippines and in Asia. She spearheads creative industry events such as the adobo Festival of Ideas, the adobo Design Awards, and various creative conferences & hackathons, Angel is pushing Filipino creatives to aspire towards world class competence and competitiveness. Angel is also co-founder of the Communication Design Association of the Philippines (CDAP).

Jowee Alviar

Board Member

is a graphic designer, educator and the co-founder of Team Manila Graphic Design Studio and Team Manila Lifestyle. Founded in 2002, Team Manila Graphic Design Studio aims to elevate the graphic design scene in the Philippines through collaborations, events, workshops and output. Team Manila Lifestyle on the other hand is their retail company that is known to infuse Philippine culture with graphic design. Jowee’s passion to promote and develop the local creative industry led him to be one of the proponents of RA 10557 or the Philippine Design Competitiveness Act of 2013. Jowee is one of the founding members and current president of the CDAP or the Communication Design Association of the Philippines.

Miguel del Rosario

Board Member

is the President of the Animation Council of the Philippines, (ACPI), the association that brings together animation studios, animation-related companies and learning institutions to make the country a leading destination for animation services. He leads the association in its shared vision of boosting the local animation industry by promoting and encouraging the creation of original content that is of world-class quality with a distinct Filipino identity. Miguel is the President and CEO of Morph Animation, Inc. (TOON CITY), one of the longest existing animation studios in the Philippines. TOON CITY, is a 25 year old 400 seat Emmy Award winning studio which has been serving clients like Disney TV, Warner Bros., Universal Studios, together with Bento Box Animation, Atomic Cartoons, Xilam Animation, Anima Estudios, among others. Besides CECP, Miguel is also currently a member of the Board of Trustees of the IT & Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP).

Kenneth Cobonpue

Board Member

is a multi-awarded furniture designer and manufacturer from Cebu, Philippines. He is a leading figure in the Philippine furniture and interior design industry as he is among the few designers who bravely established his own brand in international markets, rather than be content as an anonymous OEM supplier. Today, the KENNETHCOBONPUE® brand has become known globally for its unique designs and extensive roster of clientele, including Hollywood celebrities and members of royalty. Kenneth reveals new work each year in design shows from Milan to New York, and he speaks regularly about design all over the world. He has also appeared in European television and in countless international magazines and newspapers around the world. Various Cobonpue designs have also appeared in full-length feature films and television.

Manny Ayala

Board Member

is the managing director of Endeavor Philippines, a global non- profit that helps accelerate high-impact entrepreneurs to create a multiplier effect. Prior to Endeavor, Mr Ayala founded Hatchd, a tech incubator in the Philippines that has built a portfolio of consumer tech companies. He is also a past president of the Philippine Chapter of Entrepreneurs Organization (EO), where he launched the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards across Asia. He was a co- founder of IRG Ltd, a Hong Kong-based M&A advisory boutique, where he worked on a variety of transactions in the Telecoms, Media and Tech sectors across the Asia Pacific. Prior to that, Mr Ayala spent several years in the Television industry in Asia, working for Discovery Channel and Turner Broadcasting in Strategy and Business Development roles. He sits on the Board of Directors of Energy Development Corp. and Sky Cable. Manny has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA from Yale University.
